    Thanks. Would suggest you to have a look at the ancient Indian exercises, which is quite similar to what you have shown here, albeit, with the traditional 'Mudgars or Indian Clubs '

      Yes, there are many different tools that can produce a similar movement pattern. Indian clubs, tornado ball, and even a dumbbell. The tool matters less than the movement pattern. Happy training!

      Great observation. Thanks for commenting! That's a common question we get. The reality is a bit different. The smith machine changes the natural mechanics of the squat motion to unnaturally overload the quads (while also putting excess stress and shearing force on the knee). With squats, the muscle use in the lower body is much more balanced. This provides better stability, and function for all the joints (hips, knees, ankles, and even pelvis/low back). Additionally, lack of glute (and core) function is a huge issue in low back pain. The squat pattern is a better way to train both of those areas in one simple motion. Hope that helps!

      Great question. This exercise is a progression and its a bit challenging. I would suggest you do some other easier drills on equalizers first, like scapular mobility, assisted dips, and incline pushups. Look them up on our channel.

      Hi Tsarevna, there are a few things you can try as Tim mentioned in the video. One is to add load like a medicine ball, next is to change planes of motion, like the doing a russian twist and most importantly, Tim talks about it around the 1 minute mark, is to avoid arching the back at the bottom of the movement to keep the core engaged, slow and controlled. Give those a try and let us know how it goes.
